Let´s be honest - who wants to put a strain on their holiday by having dental treatment?
After all, it’s not such a pleasant experience, is it?! But you can save so much money in other countries, can’t you?! Actually the answer is not so simple. It is true that there are countries where you can get dental services more cheaply than you can here. Equally you can’t generalise that treatment there would always be worse than here.
It is a fact, however, that any treatment can result in problems later on: for instance, a filling might be a bit too high, but this might not have been noticed during the actual treatment, or a filling might come loose prematurely (surely this has already happened to you?) or the newly fitted denture doesn’t sit so perfectly and needs to be reworked a little – entirely normal problems that are familiar to everyone and are avoidable.
Who will help if you have already made the journey home?
What can you do if you are already waiting for your flight home or you have already landed on home soil? It is always the responsibility of the person who started a treatment because only he knows best how the work was done and how it can be perfected. But should you turn back straight away or, even worse, travel back from home to the holiday resort? If only you could put it off until next year - but, if the teeth do not fit properly, that is not an option. Of course, you can have the treatment reworked here with us - except that it will obviously not be free of charge any more and insurers will not pay the dentist locally for the work. You would have to pay for everything yourself as a normal private patient, without any chance of claiming part of the costs on your insurance.
This means a supposed bargain might suddenly look very poor: as well as the bill from the dentist in the holiday resort, for which health insurers mostly do not (have to!) guarantee any partial payment, you now have to bear the costs of the follow-up work yourself and, if it goes badly, they can be quite high. The worst-case scenario is that everything has to be redone - then you have the pain on top of the added costs.
You can buy a car abroad at 30 per cent discount, but there are problems with the guarantee there as well. That does not suit everyone. Unfortunately it is much more complicated with your teeth: a supposed advantage can rapidly turn out to be a disadvantage.
Dentures from abroad
We are always at pains to guarantee high-quality treatment for patients. This is why we only work with dental laboratories that conform to the provisions of the MPG (Medicinal Products Law) - and these are German laboratories. This German law does not apply in other countries (outside the EU) and, in most EU countries, the rules are not so strictly adhered to - we do know that.
The MPG stipulates, for example, that only materials may be used which are tested here in this country and have been proven safe to health. That virtually rules out any risk. It must also be remembered that denture work is always the result of teamwork between dentist and dental technician and it works best when they know each other.
Perfect colour match? No problem!
The technician working locally sees that for himself and can therefore produce the perfect solution. A problem with matching? No problem: the local technician is able to correct such things quickly and, if necessary, the denture can even be made again. But what can you do with a denture from the Far East, from Russia, India or wherever the workshops might be? In fact, you can really only expect what distinguishes these dentures from overseas: they will be cheap!!!
Quality is perhaps rather more expensive, but usually "better value for money" - because quality is still a key factor, especially when it is a matter of your health - or perhaps not?!
